Seiji Kaneko's Print Exhibition

Seiji Kaneko(1914-1994)is a representative woodblock printer of Hokkaido.

He spent most of his life and produced his works in Otaru.

I went to his exhibition that is being held at Otaru City Museum of Art on Sunday this week.

Many woodblock prints depicting various scenes of Otaru are exhibited, and some of the works are reminiscent of old Otaru.

You can feel the nostalgic air of Otaru from his works even though you don't know the past of this city.

The exhibition is held until 13(Sun.) February.
If you come to Otaru for Snow Gleaming Festival,
please try to see Seiji kaneko's exhibition(admission: ¥300).

Otaru City Museum of Art is located along Former Temiya Railway line that is the site of Snow Gleaming Festival.

I bought some post cards of his works.

These are the images of Otaru Canal in Winter & Former Bank of Japan Otaru Branch.

It is interesting to see that there was some greenery next to the Bank of Japan building when he made this print in 1968.

In the left post cards, a scene of the port with white lighthouse is depicted.
