Cool Food

Unprecedented hot and humid summer in Otaru is gone, and the pleasant weather of autumn has come at last!

When Japanese pampas grass characterizing autumn of Japan can be seen here and there, and hearing beautiful sounds of insects, people feel the change of the seasons.

It was really a cool evening yesterday after a spell of hot weather.

Masa, who is a friend of mine and the landlord of a backpackers’ “Morinoki” (http;//morinoki.infotaru.net/) made 'Soba'or buckwheat noodles to treat his friends.

Soba making needs a professional skill, but recently, there are some people who learn Soba making as a hobby.

Masa is one of those amateur Soba makers, and he sometimes enjoys entertaining his friends with his Soba. The cold Soba we ate in the cool air of evening was very good!

Masa said that we were able to enjoy Soba made with newly harvested buckwheat soon.
I can hardly wait!

Japanese pampas Grass set off against the blue sky

When I arrived at Morinoki, he had already finished kneading and rolling out process.

Boiled a few minutes, and cooled with flowing water, it's ready to eat!
